The Tinker Hatfield-designed silhouette features Chicago Bulls colors, with black mesh on the upper sitting atop shiny black patent leather. The Air Jordan 11 Retro ‘Bred’ 2019 brings back an original colorway initially debuted in 1995. The black midsole, embellished with red shark tooth detailing inspired by a WWII P-51 Mustang fighter plane, is reinforced by an icy translucent outsole. Staying true to the original, it featured a white leather upper with a silver reflective tongue and Nike Air branding on the heel. Earlier this year, this shoe brought back the OG colorway for the 30th anniversary of the iconic Tinker Hatfield-designed silhouette. Scoring a career high in points in these shoes, the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Fire Red” is significant for MJ. Nike Air branding adorns the heel and sockliner, an OG detail last seen on the 2000 retro. Dressed primarily in black nubuck with a reflective 3M layer underneath, the mid-top features Infrared accents on the midsole, heel tab and lace lock. The 2019 edition of the Air Jordan 6 Retro “Infrared” is true to the original colorway, which Michael Jordan wore when he captured his first NBA title. It’s rendered in a build that’s faithful to the original, complete with a black nubuck upper, visible Air Sole cushioning underfoot and Nike Air branding on the heel. Air Jordan 4 Retro OG “Bred” 2019Īn instant classic upon release, this version of the Air Jordan 4 “Bred” celebrated the 30th anniversary of the classic silhouette, which appeared in the same colorway when Michael Jordan sank “The Shot” during the first round of the 1989 NBA playoffs. Further retros were released in 2013 with small changes to the design, and again in 2015 with the original branding details: the Nike Air logo on the tongue and the original clean heel without the Jumpman logo. The ‘Chicago’ was first retroed in 1994 and stayed true to the 1985 design. Where To Cop the Air Jordan 4 Fire RedĪs of the writing of this article, you can find these on eBay, StockX and GOAT.īelow are images for both retros of this colorway that I have owned as well as links on where to buy them on the aftermarket. The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Chicago” 2015 colorway was designed to avoid Jordan’s $5,000-per game fines from the NBA after the original black and red colorway was banned. But if I’m being honest, I sold all my old fours as I hate the fit overall. These are basically just comfortable enough to wear for a couple of hours to stunt. Still, not much has changed since the last pair of 4s I got, and the comfort level is nothing to write home about. I recommend a half size up if you can, but if you can’t, true to size will work with some breaking in. There is something about the way the sneaker paneling is put together on the interior of the shoe that causes intense pinky rub. These fit snug around the toe, and if I hadn’t rushed through the purchase on SNKRS, I would have gone up in size. How Do They Fit?Īir Jordan 4s always seemed a bit odd fitting and not super comfortable to me, and the Air Jordan 4 Fire Red is no exception. Maybe I’m spoiled by all the New Balance pickups lately!Īt least the 2020 AJ4 Fire Red don’t have the shiny, cheap plasticky feel of the 2012 retro. Unfortunately, it still falls flat visually and texturally vs a sneaker with better leather. The leather is somewhat softer and seems to have more of a slight grain to it. The 2020 release however is a little bit better – but not by much. The quality on the 2012 was average Jordan Brand quality for the time, i.e., not that great. These have an entirely smooth leather upper. The 2020 release comes with flat white laces and are packaged in the typical Air Jordan 4 cement speckled black and grey box. This is more true to the “OG” makeup of the sneaker, vs the 2012 which had a Jumpman on the back. The 2020 release ships with an orange plastic Nike Air hangtag and features the Nike Air branding on the back of the shoe.
